Cache Saturation, 161m, and Cache Renewal

When any community becomes saturated with caches, the total volume of geocaching goes down.   Caches need to be at least 161m apart so the number of new geocaches declines.   The region may still see new postings for explorations out in the bush, but the majority of geocachers start within the community.   To renew geocaching in our area, we need to archive old, tired caches, puzzle caches with no current activity, and multis/series with little activity.

The burden is on cache owners to remove these older caches.   The geocaching community can help by volunteerng to pick up archived caches and by encouraging cache owners with their thanks and congraatulations.   An archived geocache is just an invitation for a new one.

Homesteaders Caches

Tech Nic, Coppermine, and couloir have been busy researching and doing field work on the old homesteads of the Lac du Bois Grasslands.   About half of the cahces are now placed.   The work also includes some maps and now a first effort at a video.   To see the Dumont Homestead video on You Tube, go to this link.
