A spot to talk about specific area geocaches. Here is the first story:
“I tried to find Pin Exchange by Rogric n Riverside Park 6 times. I tried every possible choice. In the end, I called a friend from the cache site and she gave me a clue. It was already dark so I used the faint light from my cell phone to track it down. There it was! This was one where hunting by yourself is not as effective as working with a team. Since then, I have found two others of a similar type, but at that time, this was a completely “alien” puzzle for me. Geocaching often challenges us to think and act outside our normal comfort zone, and for that I am grateful.

We hiked down to the White Tower, the Black Tower, and the DeFile Cache. It was a hot day, but the creekside was cooler. We wanted to explore the two slot canyons either side of the Defile cache. We were able to wade all the way through the north canyon to the other end. Its a bit slippery, but the geology is fascinating. We also tried to get all the way through the south canyon, but a the narrowest points, we had to swim and the current flowed harder so we couldn’t get up some of the places that the river cascades. Instead, we hiked over and around the east side of the Black Tower and entered the canyon from the north side and worked our way down to the cascades, completing the trip through the canyon from both ends. This is world-class scenery, but very rugged terrain. Worth exploring!
